Every number below was read from the GitHub API at a single point in time, and every license was confirmed against the license file rather than the API badge. Two of the six turned out not to carry a standard open-source license.

This is not a ranked comparison. Nothing here was benchmarked, and the author has no operating record with these repositories. It is a list of repositories whose verifiable facts were verified: stars, last commit, license, and archive status.
Pick one repetitive task, write its steps down in five lines, and mark the lines that need human judgement. Tasks with one or two marks are where a first agent fits.

microsoft/autogen was a candidate on star count alone. Its README carries a maintenance-mode warning stating it will receive no new features and directing new users elsewhere, so it was removed from the recommendations. Whether existing AutoGen systems should migrate is a separate question this article does not answer.

Not supported by this source: The description of "collaborating agents" is the repository's own introduction, not a performance measurement. This source does not show that a division of roles produces better results than a single agent.

Confirmed: The GitHub API response showed 204,187 stars and latest commit 2026-09-13T03:01:20Z. The API returned NOASSERTION for spdx_id, so the original LICENSE.md was downloaded and read. It states that (1) the text is Sustainable Use License 1.0, (2) content on branches other than master is not licensed, and (3) source files with ".ee." in their names or in directories named ".ee" are excluded and require a separate n8n Enterprise License.
Not supported by this source: Summarizing the Sustainable Use License conditions is different from deciding whether a particular business model is permitted. This article only restates the scope distinctions in the original text; it is not a legal determination of commercial use for an individual business.
